The Cage
The Cage is the centralized media equipment facility serving Film & Media Arts, Journalism and Fashion Media at 亚洲自慰视频 Meadows. Located in Umphrey Lee 亚洲自慰视频, Room 129, The Cage provides students and faculty with hands-on access to industry-standard production tools that support coursework, creative exploration and professional development. Whether you're directing a short film, producing a documentary, capturing content for a feature story, or experimenting with new formats, The Cage offers the resources and guidance to bring your vision to life.
What We Offer
Equipment Access
From high-end cinema and photography cameras to professional audio kits, lighting, grip gear, and specialty accessories, The Cage houses a wide range of production tools available for checkout to students enrolled in approved courses across participating departments.
Training and Support
Cage staff are available to help students navigate gear options, offer technical insight and troubleshoot equipment issues. Individual appointments for consultations or demos can be requested by emailing rjreed@smu.edu.
Online Reservations via Cheqroom
Eligible students will receive access to our online reservation platform during the first three weeks of each semester. Once registered, students can browse, reserve and manage equipment requests through Cheqroom.
Guidelines for Use
All users must review and sign the Equipment and Facilities Liability Agreement each semester. Checkout procedures, return policies, penalties and safety protocols are outlined in department-specific documents available below.
